Sales expectations move into positive territory
“After a long period of suspicions over the market’s resilience, agents have successively seen positive indications regarding both prices and volume of transactions. Even though there are still risks regarding moratoriums ending, the reality is that Covid figures are moving very positively and Portugal now has the lowest level of new cases in Europe. After a second confinement, Spring is also hoped to arrive in the residential market.”
“With lockdown restrictions gradually being eased across the country, this should enable a recovery to gain traction across the Portuguese economy as the year wears on. Of course, this will be dependent on how successfully the pandemic can be kept under control, and risks remain acute. Nevertheless, for now at least, respondents to the latest PHMS appear much more optimistic about the near term outlook for housing market activity.”
